ROCK RIVER VALLEY
Oregon, IL is part of the beautiful Rock River Valley that passes through Wisconsin, Illinois, and Iowa.  In 2010, efforts began to bring national attention to this area.  Water, biking, hiking, and air trails have been mapped.  We hope you get a chance to explore the amazing landscape that we call home.  Please click on any of the links to the right to find more information about the Rock River Valley.

WHAT TO BRING:
on the water-
  • Valid government-issued photo ID -- e.g., driver's license
  • A properly completed and signed waiver. All participants must sign a waiver and minors (under age 18) must have a guardian sign for them.  Waivers are always available at launch point.  If preparing ahead of time, download and print our Waiver and Release here.
  • Sunscreen
  • Water or other drinks in non-glass containers.
  • A dry bag for personal items. 
  • Sandals or shoes -- the Rock River bottom is, well, rocky!
on the bike-

CAMPING?
  • Check the weather!  Bring dry bags for gear in case of showers.
  • Bring food and extra water -- canoe-in camping is primitive.  No water is available at sites.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
  • We operate out of Conover Square, an old piano factory turned unique shopping mall, where you will find plenty of parking, bathrooms for changing clothes, and eclectic storefronts. 
  • Check in at our tent, located right by the river.  Read and sign the Waiver and Release forms (can be printed and signed ahead of time)and get your lifejackets, paddles, and boats, or bikes.
  • White Pelican personnel will launch you from the boat ramp and get you on your way!
  • Want to float more than paddle?  Or have an opportunity to stop and explore an island?  Leave 30 minutes early, or more!   You'll have as much river time as you want -- just be at the pick-up location when the shuttle arrives!
 
POLICIES:
on the water-
  • Reservations are strongly encouraged.  Walk-ups may occur between 9am-1pm, but there is no guarantee of availability.  Please call ahead!
  • CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULE POLICY:  You must notify us at least 3 days prior to date of your scheduled float of any changes/cancellation. After that point, we cannot refund you.
  • WEATHER CANCELLATION:  Safety is important. If unsafe weather or river conditions occur, we reserve the right to cancel appointments. If that occurs, we will notify you ASAP and email you a credit voucher for later use.  Credit vouchers are good for the duration of the season in which it was issued. (Please note that credit-voucher reservations must be done by phone/email – not online.)
  • LATE ARRIVAL FEES:  Our last pick-up shuttle will be at 4:00.  Please make every effort to arrive before then.  Remember, launching earlier will give you more time to float and explore!  We will charge a late fee of $20/half-hour after 4:00.
  • DAMAGED EQUIPMENT:  Fees for items that are lost or damaged (beyond normal wear and tear) will be charged to the card on file.
  • PERSONAL ITEMS:  Please leave valuables locked in your car.  Bring a dry bag for small items like cameras/phones.  White Pelican is not responsible for the saftety of your personal belongings.
  • ALCOHOL POLICY:  For liability reasons, White Pelican asks that you do not consume alcoholic beverages on the river while using our equipment.
on the bike-

Our last shuttle pick up will be at 4p. Please make every effort to have the bikes at the pick up zone before then. We will charge a late fee of 20/
  • If you are renting a bike for 1 or 2 days, we offer a shuttle service to pick up bikes at the State Parks. Our last pick-up shuttle will be at 5:00p.  Please make every effort to arrive before then.  Remember, launching earlier will give you more time to float and explore!  We will charge a late fee of $20/half-hour after 4:00.
